A GOP New York election official has been arrested by the FBI.
The charges… fraudulently applying for absentee ballots.
Why?
With all the attention Republicans are bringing to election fraud, what was this idiot thinking?
Jason Schofield, 42, of Troy, New York, was the New York Republican Election Commissioner.
He was arraigned on Tuesday.
The case went before U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart.
According to Fox News, he was indicted for “unlawfully using the names and dates of birth of voters to fraudulently apply for absentee ballots for elections held in Rensselaer County in 2021.”
According to the filing, Schofield was getting absentee ballots for voters who had no intention of voting in 2021.
The voters never asked for his assistance, and he reportedly possessed some of these ballots.
Schofield faces up to five years in prison if he is convicted for each count as well as fines of up to $250,000.
Personally, I hope they throw the book at him if he is convicted for hurting our cause.
We are trying to root out election fraud, not commit it in the Republican Party.
