Fani Willis warned by judge in Young Slime Life trial

Fulton County Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis was told to appear at a June 25 contempt hearing in the Young Slime Life trial after information was leaked to the public.

Judge Ural Glanville wants to know who leaked the information and has called all prosecutors, witness Lil Woody, and Lil Woody's attorney Kayla Bumpus to be present at the hearing.

They are being asked to show why they "should not be held in contempt for disclosing information from the ex parte conversation to members of the Defense counsel."

Another defense attorney in the case, Brian Steel, who is representing Young Thug, objected to the private meeting and accused prosecutors of witness tampering.

Constitutional right

"If that's true what this is is coercion, witness intimidation, ex parte communications that we have a constitutional right to be present for," Steel said.

Glanville and Steel have been clashing since the case began.

Glanville said if any of the parties to the meeting including prosecutors can't show cause why they should not be held in contempt, he will ask the Fulton County Sheriff's Office to take them into custody at the meeting.

The case involves 28 co-defendants including Young Thug that are charged with gang-related offenses.

Merchant resurfaces

Steel has rallied support from the Atlanta legal community, including Ashleigh Merchant, who chairs the state's criminal defense attorney association, and defended Steel before Glanville.

Merchant is the one who revealed Willis's affair with Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade.

She and dozens of other defense attorneys showed up at the courthouse Monday afternoon to support Steel's right to know about ex-parte communications in the case.

Despite the vocal opposition from Merchant and others in the Atlanta community, Willis won her recent primary to be re-elected DA by a landslide and is a lock to win re-election in November because the area is so liberal.

Willis is obviously tainted by impropriety and believes she can do whatever she wants with impunity and get away with it.

Why wouldn't she? That's exactly what has happened so far.
