Fani Willis’ Opponent Pledges to End Prosecution of Young Thug

Jeffrey Williams, who goes by the handle Young Thug in his rapping career, has been in a nasty legal battle with Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ office for quite some time.

After it took about 10 months to get a jury and roughly 100 trial days, the case was suspended due to some shady activity by the prosecutor's office and the former presiding judge.

Now that most of that is worked out, Willis’ opponent, Republican Courtney Kramer, is vowing to end the prosecution if she gets elected.

Not What We Were Asking

Young Thug and numerous members of his alleged gang were arrested in May 2022, all hit with RICO and street gang charges.

Willis has alleged that the YSL is the name of the gang, but Young Thug has maintained that is the name of the record label and nothing more.

Trump has scored points within the minority demographics over his RICO charges from Willis, so Kramer appears to want to exploit that.

To that point, she has vowed to end this trial if elected.

She posted a letter on X stating, “If I am elected as the next District Attorney of Fulton County, I promise to end this prosecution immediately.

“I challenge my opponent [Fani Willis] to do the same thing, the right thing, and end this prosecution and release the accused in this case who are being held without bond.”

That’s a bold statement to make without having seen the actual evidence, and there are not a lot of people saying that Young Thug is innocent on the left.

He is absolutely entitled to a fair trial, and on that front, I am not sure he getting one, but there is no way I would be promising to release him and drop the charges until I was able to see those files.

I am just not sure such a promise will help Kramer with voters and let’s be realistic, this aspect of the state has turned Blue and Willis had a walkover primary race, so I don’t expect Kramer to really have a chance of beating Willis.

It’s a cheap, last-minute stunt to try to win the race, but I doubt it will work.
