Fani Willis Asks Appeals Court to Keep Her on Trump RICO Trial

Donald Trump’s legal team is at it again.

They have filed an appeal to have Fani Willis removed from the Georgia RICO-election fraud case.

Judge McAfee had ruled that Willis could remain on the case, but only if prosecutor Nathan Wade had been removed.

Begging for Mercy

Trump and his fellow defendants in the case had tried to have Willis removed due to a conflict of interest.

It was revealed that Willis was having an affair with one of the highest-paid prosecutors on the case, even though he was not one of the specialists that Willis had hired to prosecute a RICO case.

The narrative being pitched to the court was that Nathan Wade was given a conclusion and told to make the investigative trail lead to that conclusion so Willis could go after Trump.

Judge McAfee, who has been relatively fair to Trump, ruled that Willis could only remain on the case if Wade was removed.

Wade then resigned from the case, but Trump and his codefendants took another shot at having her removed, filing a motion with the appellate court.

Steve Sadow, one of Trump’s Georgia attorneys, wrote, “President Trump and the other unjustly accused defendants have jointly filed a motion requesting the Court to grant a certificate of immediate review of its Order denying their pretrial First Amendment challenges.”

In her argument against the appeal motion, Willis asked the court to outright refuse the motion.

Willis’ legal team argued, “The trial court also permitted the prosecution to proceed under the direction of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office upon the withdrawal of Special Assistant District Attorney Nathan Wade.”

I have to admit, after it appeared that Willis had lied under oath, I expected McAfee to order her recusal from the case, but he is giving her a rather long leash.

The defendants in this case have a legitimate argument, so now it is up to the appellate court to remove her from the case, which would likely cause yet another delay, which would obviously benefit Trump.
