Family of Luigi Mangione failed to report him to authorities

A shocking update has been released regarding the main suspect in the murder of Brian Thompson, who served as CEO of UnitedHealthcare.

Luigi Mangione was not reported to the police by a single member of his family.

His cousin, Nino Mangione, has stepped forward to reveal a shocking statement.

The family claims not to know anything more than the rest of America when it comes to Luigi's crime.

“Unfortunately, we cannot comment on news reports regarding Luigi Mangione. We only know what we have read in the media. Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi's arrest. We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson, and we ask people to pray for all involved,” said Mangione.

Some are accusing the family of covering for Luigi because none of them contacted any authorities to report him as a suspect. However, according to criminal profiler John Kelly, there are less sinister reasons his family may have failed to report him to the police.

“He was such a long shot in his friends', family, and acquaintances' minds, because none of them believed he was capable of such violence,” Kelly said.

Josiah Ryan, who knew Mangione while he lived in Hawaii back in 2022 said that the now-accused killer was a “great guy.”

“I think it's easy in a circumstance like this to look back and find weird things about people…highlight them and say, ‘Hey, he was always a weirdo.’ And people aren't doing that. There's just nothing,” Ryan continued.

However, others who knew of Mangione, simply may not have recognized him.

A former classmate of Mangione, Freddie Leatherbury, told Fox News that he remembers Mangione’s “really distinct curly hair” but that “wasn’t a connection” he made at the time he viewed the footage.

“And, of course, Italians in New York are a dime a dozen. So just the jaw structure alone, the face, that wasn't a connection that I was really rushing to make. So I really just brushed it off when I saw it, to be honest,” he continued.

Whether it be total denial or simply a failure to recognize their family member, we may never really be sure.

One thing we do know is that more information is being revealed almost every day.

What do you think was the official reason Mangione’s family failed to report him to the police?
