On Tuesday morning, the entire country was stunned by pictures of Chicago.
A residential building was reduced to rubble after an unexplained explosion.
First responders initially asked for 10 ambulances for the mass casualty event.
Mass Casualties
Exactly what caused the explosion is still not known as of this writing.
When first responders arrived, there were bodies and bricks everywhere.
Eight people were transported to local hospitals.
Several of those people were listed in critical condition at the time of this report.
It took hours for the Chicago Fire Department to search through the rubble for more victims.
The first report from the CFD stated, "1 red & 1 yellow to Loyola(2 males); 2 yellow to Sinai(1F & 1M); 1 F yellow to West Sub; 1 red M to Sinai."
Red is considered a critical injury.
Since that report was released, two more people were added.
The building where the explosion took place had partially collapsed…
The case remains under investigation.
We will update if needed as more information become available.
