Benjamin Cole, who killed his daughter two decades ago, has finally been put to death.
Cole was executed at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.
His final meal request seemed to generate more headlines than his execution.

Cole’s attorneys had been trying to keep him alive by arguing that he was severely mentally ill.
Cole killed his 9-month-old daughter 20 years ago by bending her backward until her spine snapped, also tearing her aorta.
The level of pain that the child must have experienced in her final moments is utterly heartbreaking.
The fact this man managed to live 20 years past her death is despicable.
Cole has refused medical attention, but his attorneys continue to argue that his condition has only worsened over the years.
Regardless, the execution was permitted to move forward.
Rather than a traditional last meal request, Cole instead asked for a “religious meal,” which consisted of vegetarian lasagna, salad, a tortilla and a fruit drink packet.
The world is a better place without this maniac in it.
