EMILY's List, a group that supports abortion services, has added House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to a list of Republicans it is working against for the 2024 election.
The group released a statement on Friday announcing the change in its plans.
“MAGA Mike Johnson and his supporters have made their plan to ban abortion crystal clear. Every single one of the Republicans EMILYs List has already put ‘On Notice’ voted to install Johnson as speaker, endorsing his radical agenda and showing their true priorities,” said EMILY’s List Interim President Jessica Mackler on Friday, according to the Hill.
“There’s no excuse for being, or supporting, an anti-abortion election-denying conspiracy theorist, and our fundamental rights are in jeopardy with this extremist and his supporters in office,” Mackler continued.

Life News noted that the pro-life community is thrilled over Johnson's recent move to House Speaker.
"We are THRILLED that our friend, Congressman Mike Johnson, has been elected the U.S. Speaker of the House!" Ben Clapper, executive director of Louisiana Right to Life, stated.
"Without a doubt, Speaker Johnson is a strong ally and friend of Louisiana Right to Life and has served the pro-life mission for decades.
"Together with his wife Kelly, Mike has led many pro-life efforts with us, including our Life March in Shreveport that garners thousands of participants each year. Prior to becoming a State Representative, he served as our Legal Counsel," it continued.
Johnson's move may come as a loss to pro-choice Democrats but offers a strong leader in line with the support of pro-life Americans.
The latest attack by EMILY's List shows that his views are strong enough to be opposed by the left, a good sign for conservatives seeking bold leadership in the House.
