Elton John Medical Issues May Prevent Future Performances

One of the most legendary entertainers of our time may never take the stage again.

Elton John, 77, recently announced that he had suffered a medical setback that could keep him off the stage and out of the recording booth.

John suffered a particularly bad eye infection, and he continues to struggle with his eyesight.

Sad Times

With limited or no vision, John cannot read lyrics or music, which is an obvious setback for a musician.

John broke the news during a recent TV interview.

He stated, "It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see, and my left eye is not the greatest.”

John continued, "There’s hope and encouragement that it’ll be OK, but I’m kind of stuck at the moment because I can do something like this, but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know.”

He added, "It kind of floored me. I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything."

John has an album that has been in the works for some time, but that album may never see the light of day due to his current health problem.

When he was asked if he would be completing that album, he stated, "I don't know. It's been a while since I've done anything and, well, I just have to get off my backside."

Politics aside, I have always enjoyed Elton John’s music, having seen him perform several times when I was younger, and the shows were always amazing.

During his career, John had 57 songs in the Top 40 on the charts, with nine of them reaching Number One.

John has recorded more than 400 songs in his career, which means he has had a Top 40 song more than 10% of the time, which is just staggering.

It is exactly why many consider John one of the top five singers of all time.
