Electoral College Votes Finalized
Donald Trump had his final hurdle cleared prior to his inauguration in January.
This week, Electoral College votes were cast, formalizing Donald Trump’s route over Kamala Harris, 312-226.
The 2024 election was arguably the most significant win for Republicans since the Reagan presidency.
The Electoral College
Donald Trump’s win was clearly an Electoral College landslide, but he also won the popular vote, something few, if any, expected to happen.
Trump won the EC vote by 312-226, while he beat Harris in the popular vote by roughly 2.3 million votes (1.5%).
Trump swept every battleground state, showing an electoral map that was virtually all red except for the usual blue state strongholds.
New Hampshire held a ceremonial casting of the ballots, sending all four elector ballots to Harris and Walz.
New Hampshire Secretary of State Dave Scanlan stated, "This is the formal vote for President and Vice President of the United States.
"Every state in the country right now is going through this process."
When Americans vote, while we are casting a vote for our candidate in the presidential election, the election is not finalized until the electors cast their votes (of course, they are expected to cast their votes to respect the vote of the citizens of their state).
Now that the Electoral College votes are finalized, the process will move to Congress at the start of the next term for certification.
This, of course, is where everything went sideways for Trump in 2021, with Trump holding the “Stop the Steal” rally at the Capitol, which eventually turned into a riot.
I am not expecting anything from liberals on this front until Trump is sworn into office on inauguration day.
If we make it through that day without our streets on fire, I would be pleasantly surprised.
