This election cycle has been a true ebb and flow based on the news cycle.
What once seemed like a romp by the GOP tightened up about two months ago.
Now, Cook Political Report's House forecast is making a big move to red.
The latest report was great news for Republicans.
One week out, races deemed to be toss-ups are now leaning Republican.
Races that appeared to be a lock for Democrats are now only leaning Democrat or even moved to a toss-up.
For instance, CA-9, has been a solid blue seat throughout, but rising crime had downgraded this seat to "lean Democrat," so there is now hope that the GOP can steal a deep blue seat here.
CA-47, currently held by Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA), has been moved to a toss-up race.
CA-26 is currently held by Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA), but that has also been downgraded to "lean Democrat."
Four other races between New York and Illinois have been similarly downgraded.
It would be huge for the party if Republicans could pick up even one or two of those seats.
The seat that is a total surprise is OR-5, which is deep blue territory but has made a dramatic swing to "lean Republican."
Americans are finally getting the message about the soft-on-crime policies of Democrats.
I fully believe all the attention that has been given to John Fetterman has had a bit of a trickledown effect in these races.
Americans are starting to realize how much double-talk is going on and diving a bit deeper into candidates' records, the result of which is the swing we see in these races.
