The city of El Paso, TX, is has reportedly released roughly 600 migrants on its streets.
El Paso is now telling the Biden administration that it can no longer help migrants that are being processed at the El Paso border.
The city claims that this will be the case until Biden pays the city the $6.6 million it is owed.
Pay the Man His Money
So far this year, the city has spent $8.9 million feeding, housing, and transporting these migrants.
Now the city is just releasing migrants to fend for themselves.
Translation, they are now living on the streets.
Border Patrol has asked the city to reopen its welcome center, but the city has responded that its shelters are full and they have no space.
El Paso Deputy City Manager Mario D’Augostino stated, “We’re waiting on $7 million in reimbursement and we’re going to need to see some approval or some advanced funding before we start any other operations.
“They asked us to please set up a welcome center; we held [our] ground.
“We’ve been very clear with Border Patrol, all the state and local partners that we’re not going to go operational until we get secured funding.”
So far, the city has only been reimbursed $2.2 million of the money it has spent.
