House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has been warned.
Almost a third of the Democrat contingent in the House is pushing back against Manchin-backed legislation.
In all, 71 Democrats have told Pelosi that Manchin's inclusion will surely make the bill fail in the House.
No Way
House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) led the charge.
The letter to Pelosi stated, "In the face of the existential threats like climate change and MAGA extremism, House and Senate leadership has a greater responsibility than ever to avoid risking a government shutdown by jamming divisive policy riders into a must-pass continuing resolution.
"Permitting reform hurts already-overburdened communities, puts polluters on an even faster track, and divides the caucus."
The issue at hand is streamlining the permit approval process for oil and gas leases.
Manchin made Schumer agree to this in order for Manchin to sign off on the $739 billion fake Inflation Reduction Act.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) added, "We will be united in defeating the separate Manchin' permitting reforms' that will accelerate climate change and pollute Black, brown, Indigenous and low-income communities.
"Manchin went back on his word to get [Build Back Better] done, and we owe him nothing now."
This would be a disaster for Manchin, who is already crumbling in local polls.
For the first time in forever, his seat could be in jeopardy.
If this fails, it is all but certain the GOP will flip that seat in 2024.
