Donald Trump's childhood home in disrepair, overrun with feral cats

Former President Donald Trump's childhood home in Queens, New York, has reportedly been left in a state of serious disrepair by an absentee investor and is overrun by feral cats.

The six-bedroom house in Queens where Trump lived until he was four years old has been abandoned, and residents are now complaining that the house is a massive eyesore.

The New York Post visited the home this past week and noted, "The modest brick house in Jamaica Estates has become a playground for 20 to 30 felines and has was plastered with 'vacate' and 'water shut off.'"

The home is owned by “Trump Birth House LLC,” but the owners have either abandoned the site or are unable to do anything with it as the overgrown yard and home are swarmed by cats and other feral life.

The home was sold for $2.5 million which means that this significant investment is simply rotting away.

State of Decay

The one sign of activity on the property is a sign that says, “DO NOT TAKE KITTENS FROM THIS PROPERTY,” which was put up by volunteers who monitor the cat sanctuary.

The dilapidated state of the property is affecting local neighbors, as the site is an eyesore as well as a constant source of problems.

Neighbors are now working to pool money to buy the property and put it on the market in hopes of attracting a buyer who will take care of the property be it an investor or someone looking to live in a historic home.

Until that happens, the home will continue to be a haven for cats and other creatures as well as squatters and criminals who have reportedly used the property as a place to stage robberies.

Neighbor Deborah Ayala-Braun told media that a busted pipe at the home flooded her basement and other utility issues have been caused by the site.

Surprisingly, despite the owner abandoning the site to decay, the home is up to date on taxes, and the owner paid a $2,200 Department of Buildings fine, meaning the location cannot be seized.

Investor Opportunities

Trump's childhood home was bought in 2016 for $1.4 million by a real estate flipper who turned the home into an AirBnb.

One resident told the Post, "Eight years ago during the election when Trump won, people were flooding the block and causing so much traffic to take a picture with the house."

Should Trump win again, one would expect a similar outcome, but now the home is in serious disrepair. If the home was bought by an active investor who fixed it up, it's highly likely that there would be serious demand for it on the market.
