Donald Trump told probation officials he still has gun at Mar-A-Lago
Former President Donald Trump may already be in violation of the conditions of his release after being convicted of 34 felonies.
During his pre-sentencing probation meeting, Trump reportedly told officials that he still has possession of a gun in Florida at Mar-A-Lago, which could be a problem for him because convicted felons cannot lawfully have guns.
Trump turned in two pistols in New York last year when his concealed carry permit was suspended, but he did not turn in the third gun he was permitted to have in Florida.
According to Newsweek, the New York Police Department notified Florida authorities that Trump still has the gun there so that they could take appropriate actions.
Trump's gun views
Police in Palm Beach told CNN Trump hadn't turned in any guns to them since his indictment and that they weren't aware he had a gun at Mar-A-Lago.
Trump previously told a French magazine that he always carries a weapon and would have tried to stop the terror attacks in Paris in 2016 if he was there.
He also said he would have "run in with a gun" to stop the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland that killed 17 students and teachers.
"Ninety-eight percent of all mass shootings in the U.S. have taken place in gun-free zones. If you have one person in that room who could carry a gun and know how to use it, it wouldn't have happened," he said during a White House meeting.
As president, Trump allied himself with the National Rifle Association (NRA) in favor of gun rights.
NRA's views
The NRA has worked on programs to allow felons to regain their gun rights even though some of those felons have committed new crimes after they were allowed to have guns again.
Trump has promised that he would reverse President Joe Biden's gun control measures if re-elected.
Biden has only been able to get a fraction of the gun control measures he wants passed by Congress, which has a narrow Republican majority in the House.
He has made several executive orders concerning gun rights, even though they constitute massive overreach on his part.
Despite constantly saying Trump is a threat to democracy, Biden has done far more to thwart it than his predecessor even thought of doing.
