Well, we knew it would not be long before Donald Trump had something to say about the re-election announcement from Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT).
Romney and Trump have been archenemies since Trump decided to run.
So, it was no surprise to see Trump troll Romney after he announced that he would not be running for office again, reported the Washington Examiner.
See Ya
Romney announced this week that he would not be seeking re-election. When he made the announcement, he also challenged Biden and Trump to step aside to turn the country over to the next generation.
Needless to say, Trump will not be honoring that request.
When Trump saw the announcement, he went right to Truth Social to troll Romney.
He posted, "FANTASTIC NEWS FOR AMERICA, THE GREAT STATE OF UTAH, & FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. MITT ROMNEY, SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS PIERRE DELECTO, WILL NOT BE SEEKING A SECOND TERM IN THE U.S. SENATE, WHERE HE DID NOT SERVE WITH DISTINCTION. A BIG PRIMARY FIGHT AGAINST HIM WAS IN THE OFFING, BUT NOW THAT WILL NOT BE NECESSARY. CONGRATS TO ALL. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
The funny thing is that at one point, Trump and Romney seemed to have mended the fence.
For example, this is Trump in 2018…
.@MittRomney has announced he is running for the Senate from the wonderful State of Utah. He will make a great Senator and worthy successor to @OrrinHatch, and has my full support and endorsement!

Romney was very interested in joining Trump's cabinet, being rumored as a possible Secretary of State, among other positions. The two met in a very well-publicized dinner, with both of them being criticized over the meeting after Romney's resistance to Trump during the election.
Trump eventually snubbed him, then Romney and Trump went at each other's throats ever since, to the point that Romney even voted in favor of one of the impeachment charges against Trump.
I fully expect Romney to go on the attack again during this presidential election to stop Trump and promote DeSantis.
Unfortunately for DeSantis, Romney is the kiss of death.
