Donald Trump furious he was forced to face sentencing in NY hush money case

Donald Trump didn't receive any jail time, but that doesn't mean he was happy to be facing sentencing in his New York hush money trial on Friday.

Trump was furious he had to attend the sentencing at all.

The president-elect is so sure of the fact that this whole case was just a "witch hunt" against him that he isn't really celebrating the fact that he avoided jail time. He's angry that liberals were allowed to put him through as much as they did.

Even though it was reported beforehand that the judge was not planning on sentencing Trump to jail, he still fought to have the sentencing blocked, pleading his case all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court.

It didn't work. Witch hunt or not, jail time or not, Trump was forced to face sentencing.

"The imposition of sentence is one of the most difficult decisions that any criminal court judge is called to make," Judge Juan Merchan began. The court "must consider the facts of the case along with any aggravating or mitigating circumstances."

"Never before has this court been presented with such a unique set of circumstances," he added.

"After careful analysis, this court determined that the only lawful sentence that permits entry of judgment of conviction is an unconditional discharge," Merchan said during the sentencing. "At this time, I impose that sentence to cover all 34 counts."

Trump really didn't want to be labelled a convicted felon, but despite escaping jail time, that's exactly what he is now.

"Sir, I wish you Godspeed as you assume your second term in office," Merchan added after the sentencing.

Before Merchan announced the sentence, Trump called the entire trial a "great embarrassment to the state of New York" and "a tremendous setback for the American court system."

Do you think Trump is right to be angry that he was forced to face sentencing at all?

Or should our president-elect be thanking his lucky stars to have been convicted of 34 felonies and STILL be a free man?
