Donald Trump Endorses Eric Hovde for Wisconsin Senate Seat

Donald Trump has finally made his choice, just not for the position we are all awaiting.

We still have not heard who Trump will add to his ticket as his VP.

However, he has endorsed Eric Hovde for the upcoming Senate seat in Wisconsin.

The Endorsement

Trump made the announcement during a campaign rally on Tuesday.

Trump stated, “[He’s] a man who’s doing really good…he’s just about even in the polls, I see it.

“He’s a handsome devil…U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde.

“Eric, I am giving you my complete and total endorsement, so go out and win…you’d better win. We always win.”

Hovde is the CEO of Sunwest Bank, and he will be facing off against Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) if he wins the primary race.

Hovde is pushing Trump’s agenda in his ads for the seat…

Hovde had already endorsed Trump back in February, and he already had the support of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).

Hovde has run for office before, losing his primary race in 2012.

Hovde’s campaign website states, “We have always been a nation of immigrants, but the American Dream should be pursued legally through the appropriate channels.

“The Biden-Baldwin open border policy is fueling a crisis on our southern border and many people have lost their lives because of it.

“Our laws need to be enforced and our borders strengthened if we want to keep our streets safe and protect the lives of U.S. citizens and migrants.”

Hovde still has to get through this primary race, as it would appear our old friend Sheriff David Clarke is giving him a run for his money even though he has yet to announce that he will run.

Clarke has hinted that he will get in the race, and in December polling, he was crushing Hovde by more than 40 points in a Public Policy Polling survey.

If Hovde does make it out of the primary, he has some work to do in order to catch Baldwin, who is leading him by three points in the latest Emerson College survey, 45-42.

The good news for Hovde is that he did make up ground from the poll before, as he was trailing Baldwin by seven points in the same survey from February.

I look forward to seeing the next round of polling to see how Trump’s endorsement impacts both the primary and general election numbers.
