Dolly Parton’s Brother Dead at 82

Legendary country singer Dolly Parton is dealing with personal tragedy this week.

On Friday, Parton’s sister, Stella, announced that her brother David had passed away.

He was 82 years old.

Heartbroken

In the early days of Dolly’s career, she was often seen with her brother David nearby.

Dolly has always been a bit closed off regarding her personal life, and it is quite amazing how she managed to keep the two separate as such a superstar.

While Dolly has not commented on her brother’s death as of this report, Stella has.

On her social media account, she posted, “My brother David passed away peacefully this morning.

“It’s never easy to say goodbye to a loved one but he got his angel wings and is now at peace.”

“My brother David was always referred to as sweet David because of his kindness, loyalty, and soft-spoken demeanor. He was also a US Marine.”

According to his obituary, he died in Tennessee. He retired as a bridge builder superintendent for Simpson Construction.

Some of the bridges he worked on during his time in the business are standing in Knoxville, Johnson  City, and Kingsport.

David is survived by his wife, Kay, two daughters and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dolly came from a rather large family, with there being 11 children in all, and David was the second oldest, Dolly being the fourth oldest.

David is the second sibling to have passed, with her younger brother Randy passing away in 2021 from cancer.

In her tribute to her brother, Dolly posted, “My brother Randy has lost his battle with cancer. The family and I are grieving his loss but we know he is in a better place than we are at this time.

“We are a family of faith and we believe that he is safe with God and that he is joined by members of the family that have gone on before and have welcomed him with joy and open arms.”

Rest in peace, David, and our thoughts go out to Dolly and her family during this time.
