DOJ Refuses to Turn Over Hur Recorded Interview with Biden

Ever since Special Counsel Robert Hur announced his findings on Biden’s handling of classified documents, the GOP has been trying to obtain the audio of the interview.

They have the transcript, but the written word hardly gives the same impression as the spoken word.

The Department of Justice (DOJ), however, is not cooperating and is refusing to turn the tape over to protect Joe Biden.

Criminal Contempt

When Hur announced his findings, it was a blistering conclusion in regard to Joe Biden’s mental state.

The report stated, “We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.

“Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him, he is someone for whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt. It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) are collectively trying to get the audio, but the DOJ is not cooperating.

The DOJ responded to the request, with Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte informing them they audio will not be turned over.

He stated, "The Department is concerned that the Committees' particular focus on continuing to demand information that is cumulative of information we already gave you — what the President and Mr. Hur's team said in the interview indicates that the Committees' interests may not be in receiving information in service of legitimate oversight or investigatory functions, but to serve political purposes that should have no role in the treatment of law enforcement files.”

Comer responded to the news, stating, "The Biden Administration does not get to determine what Congress needs and does not need for its oversight of the executive branch.

“It’s curious the Biden Administration is refusing to release the audio of President Biden’s interview with the Special Counsel after releasing the transcript.

"Why shouldn't the American people be able to hear the actual audio of his answers?

“The American people demand transparency from their leaders, not obstruction."

Now Comer and Jordan are considering contempt charges against the DOJ, so this could get quite ugly very quickly.

Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I would love to hear how Biden sounded during that interview to learn how badly he was struggling to answer these questions.

Not only that, but I want to hear how many times one of his advisers had to jump in to help him… all of which is on that tape.
