Dixie Chicks Founding Member Killed In Car Crash

Laura Lynch, a founding member of the world-famous band now known as The Chicks has been killed in a car crash in El Paso, Texas.

How sad.

Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene after a vehicle traveling the opposite way crossed into her lane and hit Lynch head-on. The driver of the vehicle that struck Lynch was trying to pass the car in front of it.

The driver of the other vehicle is alive and did not suffer life-threatening injuries. We do not know at this time if the driver who killed Lynch will be charged.

The surviving members of The Chicks took to Instagram to make a statement after learning of Laura Lynch’s sudden death.

The post said:

We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Laura Lynch, a founding member of The Chicks. We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent playing music, laughing and traveling together. Laura was a bright light…her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band. Laura had a gift for design, a love of all things Texas and was instrumental in the early success of the band. Her undeniable talents helped propel us beyond busking on street corners to stages all across Texas and the mid-West.

Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this sad time.

- Emily, Martie & Natalie

Laura Lynch recorded three albums with The Chicks as the lead singer of the group and played a massive part in skyrocketing the band to fame.

Lynch was 65 years old. She is survived by her husband, Mac Tull, and her daughter, Asia.

We pray for peace and comfort for family members, friends, band members, and anyone else who loved her.
