Two Georgia Football Team Members Die in Accident

This week was supposed to be a joyful one for members of the University of Georgia football team.

They had just won back-to-back championships and the entire school was riding high.

Sadly, that literally came crashing down on Sunday.

Head Coach Kirby Smart announced that two members of the team had been killed in a horrific car crash.

They're Gone

Early Sunday morning, Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy were killed in a car accident in Athens, GA.

Two other members of the team were in the car at the time, but they were only injured and are listed in stable condition.

According to local police reports, their SUV was in the outside lane when it left the highway, then struck two power poles and numerous trees.

Willock was in the passenger seat at the time. LeCroy is believed to have been driving at the time of the accident.

She was initially taken to a local hospital, but succumbed to her wounds later in the day.

Willock was a red-shirt sophomore who played in every game for the Bulldogs this season, including the playoff games.

Coach Smart stated, "We are all heartbroken and devastated with the loss of Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy.

"Devin was an outstanding young man in every way and was always smiling. He was a great teammate and a joy to coach. Chandler was a valuable member of our football staff and brought an incredible attitude and energy every single day.

"We grieve with their families for this tragic loss and will support them in every way possible."

This is just a devastating loss for the team, community, and obviously those family members.

To lose not one, but two promising individuals that were so young is just crushing.

Rest in peace.
