Diddy Gag Order Proposal Rejected by Court
Sean “Diddy” Combs is having about as much success with court filings as Donald Trump.
Combs has filed to have a gag order placed that would prevent government officials from leaking details about his case to the media.
The judge rejected the proposal, but all is not lost for Combs on this front.
Keep It Shut
In my opinion, Combs is probably never going to see the light of day as a free man again once this case comes to its conclusion.
From the “evidence” I have seen in this case so far, his attorneys are tasked with a virtually impossible job of proving him innocent.
That aside, the government should not be leaking information to the media on the case, regardless of how disgusted everyone is with what was allegedly taking place at Diddy parties.
To that point, Diddy was trying to have a formal gag order placed, but Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the gag order proposal.
He did not, however, give the government a free pass on this.
Judge Subramanian wrote, “To be clear, this order isn’t based on a finding that there has been any wrongdoing thus far, as the Court has made no findings at this juncture relating to defendant’s allegations that information related to the case has been leaked.
“The point of this order is to help ensure that nothing happens from now on that would interfere with a fair trial.”
The judge continued that if there are any violations of the order, the “appropriate action” will be taken.
Combs alleged that prosecutors turned a tape over to CNN to hurt him in the court of public opinion and destroy his reputation. The video in question was of Combs brutally beating his ex in a hallway of a hotel.
The filing read that the tape was released to “mortally wound the reputation and the prospect of Sean Combs successfully defending himself against these allegations.
“Rather than using the videotape as trial evidence, alongside other evidence that gives it context and meaning, the agents misused it in the most prejudicial and damaging way possible.”
I would love to know what "context and meaning" could be given to justify Diddy kicking and punching a defenseless woman in a public hallway.
The government denied that it was the source of the leak, responding, “The Government was not in possession of the video before its publication by CNN.
“There is thus no colorable factual basis for the defendant’s claim that the Government leaked the video to CNN, let alone that it was leaked ‘in violation of grand jury secrecy.'”
Diddy is currently facing charges of “racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. violation of grand jury secrecy.”
Last week, the New York Post published a detailed report on video and pictures of the alleged parties. It said that while there were many stars at the actual parties, the crimes allegedly occurred at the afterparty, with most of the stars who attended the regular party having gone by then.
Even so, there are reports of numerous stars reaching out to alleged victims to make settlements so their names do not pop up during the Diddy trial.
This is going to be Jeffrey Epstein on steroids by the time this gets to court, and I would imagine there are going to be dozens of careers ruined by Diddy’s downfall.
