Did John Oliver Just Try to Bribe Justice Thomas?

We all know liberals and Democrats want Justice Thomas off the bench, but just how far will they go?

John Oliver may have just answered that question.

Oliver just offered Justice Thomas $1 million a year for life to retire, and he even threw in a little extra.

Is This a Bribe?

Oliver, who has a show on HBO, threw the offer out to Thomas, stating, "One million dollars a year for the rest of your life, if you simply agree to leave the Supreme Court immediately and never come back.”

Oliver then commented as though he thought he would be doing Thomas a favor.

He continued, "Clarence Thomas is arguably the most consequential justice on the court right now, and he’s never really seemed to like the job.

“He said, ‘It’s not worth doing for the grief.’ So, what if he can keep the luxury perks he clearly enjoys without having to endure all of that grief.”

As far as a possible bribe is concerned, Oliver stated that he was doing nothing wrong, and his attorneys had cleared the offer.

He explained, "Which seems crazy to me because it really feels like it shouldn’t be. But as they keep pointing out, there are no rules in place to stop me from doing this.

“And let me be clear: HBO is not putting up the money for this. I am personally on the hook.

"You can make me really regret this. I could be doing standup tours to pay for your retirement for years."

Oliver then added a $2.4 million tour bus to make the offer even more appealing to Thomas.

That would be pretty appealing to most people, but I just don’t see Thomas giving Oliver the satisfaction.

Thomas has a net worth of about $4 million, and while $1 million a year is a lot of money to turn down, he can make that with a book.

Thomas also makes about $265,000 a year as a justice, so he is not exactly hurting for money.

So, sorry Mr. Oliver, but I do not see Thomas taking up your offer, which would allow Biden to name another Supreme Court justice.
