Democrat Senator Bob Casey Diagnosed with Cancer

Democrats may have an unsuspected seat that will be open come 2024.

Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) announced this week that he has cancer.

Casey is up for re-election in 2024.

Shock Diagnosis

The diagnosis obviously caught Casey by surprise. As shocking as the diagnosis was, he did have some good news as well.

Casey stated, “Last month, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. While this news came as a shock, I can report that I have an excellent prognosis, as well as the benefit of exceptional medical care and the unwavering support of my family.”

Currently, Casey is expected to run to defend his seat. If he does run, he is a virtual lock to take the seat again.

If, however, he decides to take a step back and appreciate some family time to due to this scare, well, that could be another game changer for the GOP.

There are two big seats that are already up for grabs, being the seat being vacated in Michigan and Senator Sinema’s seat in Arizona. Without Casey running, this PA seat would be up for grabs.

I am not going to get overly excited about him retiring, though, as Casey is very upbeat and expects to make a full recovery.

He stated, “In the coming months I will undergo surgery, after which I am expected to make a full recovery. I am confident that my recommended course of treatment will allow me to continue my service in the 118th Congress with minimal disruption.”

And, let me be clear before the trolls in the liberal horde start coming after me on this one. I am not rooting for Casey to get sick and die from cancer.

I am glad the man is recovering and in good shape. Having said that, I am breaking this down from a political perspective IF he decides he wants to retire due to this scare.

It is sad, truly, that I even have to make that kind of disclaimer these days for fear of being censored or outright banned.
