DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announces identification of 2 internal leakers
The Trump administration has already seen tremendous success in halting the influx of new migrants into the country, and there is now an increased focus on deporting those already illegally here.
Amid a series of leaks regarding planned enforcement operations, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed last week that two individuals believed responsible for the breaches had been identified and now face prosecution and potential jail time, as Breitbart reports.
Noem announces news
The DHS secretary took to X last week with a video message outlining the fruits of her agency's efforts to find the leakers and bring them to justice.
“We have identified criminal leakers within @DHSgov and are preparing to refer these perpetrators to the @TheJusticeDept for felony prosecutions. These individuals face up to 10 years in federal prison,” DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin further explained.
Vowing continued efforts to crackdown on leaks that jeopardize agents involved in immigration enforcement initiatives McLaughlin said, “We will find and rout out all leakers. They will face prison time & we will get justice for the American people.”
The announcement comes on the heels of a Breitbart report indicating that DHS planned to utilize polygraph testing as a way to uncover the sources of leaks concerning pending ICE raids.
The crackdown and search for leakers came in the wake of news that internal information had been released ahead of planned raids in Aurora, Colorado, a scenario that led to the postponement of much-needed enforcement activity.
Homan explains dangers of leaks
Trump administration border czar was particularly incensed when the aforementioned Aurora leaks came to light, explaining to Fox News' Harris Faulkner why such conduct is so dangerous to federal officials on the ground in enforcement target areas.
“When we show up at these sites, this is a dangerous job for the men and women of ICE and Border Patrol and all the DOJ agencies,” Homan declared.
He continued, “To have this type of interference puts our officers at great risk, not only the officers, it puts the aliens at great risk because anything can happen when we take our eyes off the goal here, so we're addressing it immediately today.”
“This is not a joke. This is serious business, and they need to stop, or we're going to prosecute them through [the] Department of Justice,” Homan added.
Now, with Noem's announcement, it appears that is precisely what is about to happen, and that is something for which all American can be grateful.
