The DHS Office of Inspector General has issued the official review of the Afghanistan withdrawal.
It was less than flattering for this administration.
At the heart of the report is the screening process that was in place to vet evacuees.
Not Properly Done
Considering the part of the world these people were coming from and the hatred for Americans, this is a big problem.
Not only that, but numerous members of the Biden administration also swore up and down that the proper vetting had taken place.
According to the IG report, Customs and Border Protection (CPB) "did not always have critical data to properly screen, vet, or inspect the evacuees.
"We determined some information used to vet evacuees through U.S. Government databases, such as name, date of birth, identification number, and travel document data, was inaccurate, incomplete, or missing. We also determined CBP admitted or paroled evacuees who were not fully vetted into the United States.
"As a result, DHS may have admitted or paroled individuals into the United States who pose a risk to national security and the safety of local communities."
The report also stated that evacuees "who were not fully vetted" were released to our country's interior.
I lost count of how many times Defense Department officials patted themselves on the back for what they perceived to be a successful evacuation.
General Milley, Secretary Mayorkas, Secretary Austin, and Joe Biden all have to answer for this.
