DeSantis Office Warns Against Unauthorized PACs Using His Name

Ron DeSantis is a smooth character, there is no longer a doubt about that.

There are numerous PACs out there pushing for a DeSantis run for president.

DeSantis could have let them play on without saying a word.

Instead, he is calling them out and warning his supporters not to send them any money.

Smooth Move, Ron

There is a lot to unpack with this move from DeSantis.

First, let's address the PAC.

Ron to the Rescue has been dropping bombs all over the internet trying to get support for DeSantis to run…

Benjamin Gibson, legal counsel for DeSantis, addressed the PAC and others that are using DeSantis' name, stating that they had "recently learned through media reports that a super PAC apparently named 'Ron to the Rescue' ('PAC') is being formed reportedly 'in order to boost a potential 2024 presidential run from Governor Ron DeSantis.'

"This is similar to other 'pro-DeSantis' PACs that have formed and continue to use Ron DeSantis' name and likeness to raise funds without his permission or authorization.

"Whether well intentioned or not, the organizers of these PACs have not been in contact with DeSantis leadership and such efforts may create confusion amongst supporters of the Governor and his policies."

DeSantis could have let this play out and used it as a measuring stick to see how much interest there is in him running, but he chose to shut it down.

This is also a big move to keep Trump at bay, who is now looking for any reason possible to start a war with DeSantis.

On the flip side, if DeSantis does plan on running, he needed to get this information out as soon as possible to stop money that would normally be coming to his campaign from going to these PACs that have nothing to do with his campaign.

My take… I think DeSantis is dying to run, but I also believe he knows he cannot beat Trump straight up, at least not yet, and he does not want to get into a battle with Trump that could hurt his presence in the party.

So, let me pitch this angle… DeSantis sits on the sideline to wait out the Trump investigations.

If Trump winds up getting indicted and it looks like trouble, who better to come to the rescue than Ron DeSantis?
