Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is going all out right now to raise his profile among conservatives.
His latest move is to, according to a Fox News report, mandate "all state universities report expenditures and resources used for campus activities that relate to diversity, equity, and inclusion and critical race theory initiatives."
To me, it sure looks like DeSantis is positioning himself for a run at the White House.
Track Record
On Wednesday, Press Secretary Bryan Griffin posted a memo that had come from DeSantis demanding the reporting.
The memo, in part, stated, "[T]his letter is a request for information from the Department of Education and the State University System regarding the expenditure of state resources on programs and initiatives related to diversity, equity and inclusion, and critical race theory within our state colleges and universities."

If the state is funding programs, I have zero issue with it requiring a full reporting of where that money is being spent.
Now the state university system and Department of Education have until next Friday to report the information requested in the memo.
DeSantis has not yet revealed what he will do with the information once he has it, with his office only stating that right now, this is a "fact-finding mission."
If there is one thing we know about DeSantis, he despises this new woke movement that is just shredding this country right now.
If these schools are using dedicated state funds to critical race theory and/or diversity, equity, and inclusion training, well, I would imagine that faucet will get shut off fairly quickly.
These are both very big issues for conservative voters, so I can see DeSantis introducing a new law regarding funding that would be very possible to convert to a federal law if he were to run and win the presidential election.
The man is setting himself up for a very successful run. Now we just need him to announce.
