Dems Proposing Higher Taxes on Guns and Ammo Before Midterms

If they cannot repeal the Second Amendment, Democrats will create their own loophole.

Only weeks before midterms, Democrats will try to push through a new tax bill that will significantly increase the cost of owning a firearm and ammunition.

The "Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act" is being headed by Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL) and 21 of his fellow Democrats.

Make Them Pay

As most of you already know, the cost of ammunition has gone through the roof.

The last time I purchased target 9mm bullets, I paid about $0.43 per bullet, which makes practicing very expensive.

Democrats want to make it even more so with this legislation.

They want to raise current taxes by 0.5 percent, sending all of the money to gun prevention programs.

Davis stated, "Not one penny of current federal excise taxes on guns and ammunition goes to gun violence prevention.

"The Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act is an important part of comprehensive gun violence prevention because it creates guaranteed annual funding to stop gun violence via a small increase of 0.5% in existing excise gun and ammunition taxes."

Republicans will fight this with everything they have but don't have the numbers to stop this legislation in the House.

So, it will be up to Cocaine Mitch to block them in the Senate.
