With all the COVID money being wasted in this country, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was trying to put some of it to good use.
Cruz sponsored a bill that would have diverted unused funds to provide more security measures, including police, to our schools.
Additionally, the legislation would have added mental health staff to schools.
Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) decided it was political theater, so he blocked the legislation.
Who Is Really Acting?
I did a report on this earlier in the week and trust me, it was Murphy that was doing the acting.
Without giving a reason, he objected to passing the bill on unanimous consent.
Then he walked off the floor, returned, got into a screaming match with Cruz, then walked back out again.
Cruz stated, "If another lunatic attacks a school, and there's not a police officer at the front door to stop it, remember right now.
"Remember this moment when the Democrats said, 'No, we will not protect our kids.'"
Murphy tried to justify his actions by saying that he was working on better legislation with Senator Lankford (R-OK), but Lankford pushed back, saying their legislation is not related to this at all.
In fact, Lankford co-sponsored the legislation that Cruz was trying to get passed.
So, basically, Murphy does not even have a clue what his legislation says.
