Democrats Blew Nearly Half a Billion on Lost Senate Races
We all know that Democrat donors have more money than Republican donors these days.
Well, with Elon Musk in the fold, he can change that, but his money aside, Democrat fundraising dwarf Republicans, as was made evident in the $1 billion raised by Harris in only three months.
They poured record amounts of money into campaigns in the Senate, hoping to flip states like Texas, and they lost.
That’s a Lot of Money
Democrats were looking to take Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri, and Montana in this round, and they failed miserably, and that is with a strong incumbent in place in several of these races.
In Pennsylvania, Democrats had Senator Bob Casey in place. In Montana, they had Senator Jon Tester in place. In Ohio, they had Sherrod Brown in place.
Democrats were hoping to oust Senator Josh Hawley in Missouri, Senator Ted Cruz in Texas, and Senator Rick Scott in Florida.
In all of those races, they failed, and they poured more than half a billion into those races, taking up a huge chunk of money from other races that could have won with more support.
Now, I don’t fault them for defending their incumbents, but they took on three very popular senators in red states, and they were crushed.
For instance, in Florida, Scott won by nearly 1.3 million votes (12.8%). Cruz defeated Allred in Texas by nearly one million votes (8.6%). And Hawley dominated his race by 400,000 votes (13.8%).
In Texas alone, Democrats spent $92 million trying to get Rep. Colin Allred over the finish line and while polling said the race was much closer, when push came to shove, he never had a chance.
I have to think that Ohio was one of the two biggest shockers for Democrats, along with Pennsylvania. But in Ohio, Democrats spent $194 million to keep Brown in office and he lost to Bernie Moreno by more than 200,000 votes (3.8%).
For me, the real waste was in Montana, where Tester fell apart months ago, yet Democrats continued to pour money into the state to defend his seat, spending $160 million only to lose by 44,000 votes (7.4%), a huge number in that state.
You really have to wonder how much longer donors will pay that kind of money for failed results in states they cannot crack before finally giving up and just handing them over to the GOP without a fight.
This is now two big runs at Ted Cruz, as well as a big run at Governor Abbott, and they literally have nothing to show for it.
People always ask me if I am afraid of Texas turning blue with all the new transients living here, and I always tell them the same thing.
Democrats will always dominate the big cities, but when it comes to federal elections, just about every conservative in the state shows up to vote, and as long as that happens, Texas will remain red, so Dems can pour as much money as they want into the state because it just won’t help.
Having said that, I would love to see Trump pull Cruz out of the Senate and offer him an appointment so we could get someone more popular in there who would be immune to these challenges.
Cruz wins, but it always seem to be more stressful than it has to be. As far as those other seats go, well, all the new guys have six years to prove they are worthy of the vote they received, so let’s hope they don’t disappoint.
