Democrat Staffer Arrested for Bringing Ammo into U.S. House Office

Democrats continue to wind up in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The latest is a staffer for a Democrat congressman who was just arrested.

According to reports, the staffer was trying to bring ammunition into the House offices when he was stopped by the Capitol Police.

Jo Stiles, the Chief of Staff of Rep. Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.), released a statement this morning about the incident.

The staffer was reportedly arrested on Monday morning for having tried to bring four loaded magazines into House offices.

Stiles stated, “This morning, our office was informed that a member of our staff was arrested by Capitol Police.

“In response to this morning’s incident, Mr. Hopkins is no longer employed by Representative Morelle’s office effective immediately.”

The statement continued, “He is facing charges for unlawful possession of ammunition, including one charge for possession of a high-capacity magazine.”

The magazines were reportedly found when the employee's bag was put through the x-ray machine upon entering the building.

After the ammo was found, the staffer told police he had forgotten the ammo was in the bag.

The statement by Stiles concluded, “As Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration, Congressman Morelle is devoted to ensuring a safe and secure workplace for all.”

In and of itself, this incident is not that big of a deal, but when you look at the collective of what Democrats are facing right now, this is a bit of an embarrassment for the party.

Morelle is not exactly a household name, but he did get national headlines for his role in helping to push Joe Biden off the presidential ticket.

Morelle is one of a handful of House Democrats who had publicly recommended Joe Biden withdraw from the race because they did not believe he could beat Donald Trump.

For me, this was instant Karma for Democrats, having tossed the vote of the American people aside in an unprecedented move to have a primary winner removed from the presidential race due to bad polling numbers, completely disregarding the vote of the American people.
