Dave Coulier Defends John Stamos After Bald Cap Outrage
I have heard of people being outraged over some ridiculous things in my day, but this one really takes the cake.
Actor John Stamos decided to don a bald cap to support his friend, Dave Coulier, as he fights off his cancer diagnosis.
Stamos faced a backlash for the bald cap, which led to Coulier telling everyone to pump the brakes on the temper tantrums.
Just Give It a Break
For those of you unaware, Stamos and Coulier were part of the cast of “Full House,” with that entire crew remaining very good friends even after the show ended.
When their fellow co-star Bob Sagat passed away, these two were among the first at his home to comfort family members.
Coulier was recently diagnosed with cancer, and he is losing his hair from the chemo treatments.
As a way to break the news, offer support, and add a little levity to the situation, Stamos wore a bald cap while shaving Coulier’s head in an Instagram post.
The internet trolls went right after Stamos, calling him “shallow,” saying a bald cap was not showing “solidarity” and that if Stamos really wanted to show support, he would have shaved his head.
Coulier responded to the negative posts with his own Instagram post.
He wrote, “I’m sorry to see a bunch of negative comments as I’ve just begun my cancer journey.
“It’s our friendship (me and John) and this is how we are handling a very tough time.
“I’m a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knows how to cheer me up and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap — being a true loving friend and brother.”
His message concluded, “I lost my sister, Sharon, my mother, Arlen, and my niece, Shannon to cancer, we tried to stay positive, and we made each other laugh through the worst of it.
“So, I’m choosing to spread the word about early cancer detection to help people. That’s just who I am.
“I wish nothing but love for all of you.”
If Coulier is okay with it, then just back off. Sure, you have a right to your own opinion, and you have every right to be outraged, but I think Coulier has more important things to worry about than your glass house of feelings being expressed on his social media pages.
Our thoughts are with you, Dave, and we hope you beat this horrible disease.
