Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) took an opportunity to teach some history about the Democratic Party in a conversation with Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez (D-NY).
The conservation took place on Twitter after Cruz spoke out against an NAACP travel advisory against Florida over claims that the state's policy marginalized people of color.

"Sure. – First, the Dem party founded the KKK. – Then the Dem party wrote Jim Crow laws. – Then the Dem party filibustered the Civil Rights Act," Cruz tweeted.
"Today, the Dem party filibusters school choice – trapping millions of Black kids in failing schools. – Today, the Dem party pushes abolishing the police, which results in many more Black lives murdered. – Today, every Dem senator voted against my bill to stop DC from throwing 40% of Black kids out of schools bc of vax mandate," Cruz continued.

Even Twitter CEO Elon Musk commented on the interaction between the two lawmakers, noting that the interaction makes the platform "unique & entertaining!"
Cruz and Ocasio-Cortez have a long history of interactions on polarizing issues.
After the New York Democrat traveled to the border to decry "kids in cages" during the Trump administration, Cruz pointed out that the practices were part of the Obama administration and that the situation was much improved under the GOP president's leadership.
The latest interaction left Ocasio-Cortez looking for answers as Cruz spewed facts that destroyed her party's accusations toward conservatives.
