Kidnapped Texas Couple Resurfaces

A young couple that was "targeted," according to police, has finally been found.

The couple had been kidnapped at gunpoint in front of their children on Wednesday morning.

By Thursday, the police had located a home where they believed the couple were being held, but before they stormed the house, the couple was released and walked out on their own, reported My San Antonio.

Targeting Kidnapping

Wednesday morning, Samantha Esquivel-Zuniga, 38, and Ricky Zuniga, 37, were taken at gunpoint, and loaded into an SUV, all the while their children were left powerless to do anything but watch.

Police, while not revealing a motive, stated that the couple had been targeted by the kidnappers.

San Antonio Police Sergeant Washington Moscoso stated, “The detectives, through their investigation, quickly realized that this was a targeted kidnapping; it wasn’t a random act.

“It wasn’t just these individuals picked a house. This was a targeted aggravated kidnapping to this particular family. At no point during this instance was the general public in any kind of danger," reported the New York Post.

The San Antonio Police Department, FBI, and Homeland Security Investigations all worked together to locate the couple.

One officer described the scene as officers arrived at the home, stating, “People started just coming out of the house. All the officers that were there, started … securing them to identify them.”

The two alleged kidnappers, Felipe Valdez, 40, and Xhavier Martinez, 29, were arrested and taken into custody.

There is a third suspect, but police did not want to put his name out there just yet.

As Martinez was being taken into custody, he went off a foul-mouthed rant to reporters.

According to police, he has several outstanding warrants in unrelated cases, which include: deadly conduct, evading arrest, and interfering with public duties.
