Country Star Jamey Johnson Arrested

Fans of country singer Jamey Johnson were stunned to learn the singer-songwriter had been arrested.

According to local reports, Johnson was arrested on November 17 for drug possession.

The arrest was confirmed by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).

We Got Him

I am guessing at this point, but it appears the arrest was instigated by a traffic stop after Johnson was caught speeding.

Police have offered very few details, but from what I have been able to piece together, this is what appears to have happened.

THP only stated, “We can confirm that Jamey Johnson was arrested on Sunday, Nov. 17 in Williamson County. The incident is still under investigation.”

Johnson was released on $5,000 bail.

Johnson first hit the music scene in 2005, signing a deal with BNA Records.

This first single, “The Dollar” was released in 2006, with Johnson moving over to Mercury Nashville Records in 2008.

His second album, “That Lonesome Song,” went double platinum, also producing two hit singles, “In Color” and “That Lonesome Song.”

Johnson’s biggest chart-topper was “The Guitar Song,” which hit #1 on the US Country Charts and #4 overall. That song went gold.

Since then, Johnson has released two more albums as well as a Christmas album.

In addition to his own songs, Johnson has written songs for some of the industry's biggest names, including Willie Nelson, Trace Adkins, and George Strait.

Johnson has not been writing or singing much since his last release, which he blamed on a slip-and-fall accident where he hit his head.

Johnson was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in May 2022, and even had a day named after him in Alabama, December 15-Jamey Johnson Day. Johnson is an Alabama native.
