Controversial Democrat enters CA gubernatorial race
There has been a rather shocking entry into the California gubernatorial race.
Former Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) has announced that she is running for governor.
While she has not announced yet, Kamala Harris is expected to run, and is already considered the odds-on favorite.

Porter is a bit of a loony toon, having had some rather interesting rants as a member of Congress during committee hearings.
She entered the Senate race in CA to fill the seat vacated by the late Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA), who died in September 2023.
Her seat was given a special appointment, but the woman chose as a special appointment, Senator Laphonza Butler (D-CA), had announced that she had no plans to defend her appointment.
Porter was never really in the running, as the race was dominated by one of the most notorious liars in Congress... Adam Schiff.
Schiff took the open primary with 31.6%, with Republican and former MLB star Steve Garvey finishing in second with 31.5%. Porter finished a distant third, taking only 15.3% of the vote.
Californians do not apparently care about the truth, as Schiff dominated the general election, winning a whopping 58.87%, defeating Garvey in a landslide win.
In making her announcement to run for governor, Porter stated, “In Congress, I held the Trump Administration’s feet to the fire when they hurt Americans.
“As Governor, I won’t ever back down when Trump hurts Californians — whether he’s holding up disaster relief, attacking our rights or our communities, or screwing over working families to benefit himself and his cronies.”
In addition to her crazy rants during hearings, Porter faced allegations from former staffers saying that she was rage-prone as well at least one staffer making racist allegations against her.
I feel pretty comfortable saying that Porter has no chance in this election if there is anyone reasonably sane that will run, but she will definitely be out if and when Harris announces that she is going to run.
Harris has been mum on the subject, but there are rumblings from inside her camp that a gubernatorial run is most likely her next move.
If Harris wants to run for president again, she has to do something to improve her political profile, and she has no chance of doing that outside of California. I don’t see her challenging an incumbent in the Senate, so replacing Newsom is pretty much her only chance to get some credibility back.
