Conservative Hoping to Replace Trudeau Making a Splash

This week, Donald Trump and Canadians had their dream come true.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau resigned his position as party leader for the Liberal Party, although he will remain Prime Minister until a new one is elected.

This has opened the door for Official Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre to get some attention heading into the October elections.

Who is Pierre?

In announcing his resignation, Trudeau stated, “As you all know, I am a fighter, and I am not someone who backs away from a fight, particularly when a fight is as important as this one is.

“But I have always been driven by my love for Canada, by my desire to serve Canadians, and by what is in the best of Canadians and Canadians deserve a real choice in the next election.

“And it has become obvious to me — with the internal battles — that I cannot be the one to carry the Liberal standard into the next election.”

If the Liberal Party is smart, they will remove him as PM as well, as his time in office has been an utter disaster for the country.

Currently, the Conservative Party is leading the Liberal Party in support by about a 3:1 ratio, and if that holds, Poilievre would be the PM.

Poilievre’s approach has been compared to Trump’s, so you can see why he has become a bit of a sensation, but he is adamant that Canada would never be absorbed by the United States, as Trump has suggested.

During a recent interview, he stated, "I have the strength and the smarts to stand up for this country and my message to incoming President Trump is that first and foremost, Canada will never be the 51st state of the U.S.”

Poilievre’s agenda mimics that of Trump, hoping to expand fossil fuel production, but he also stated that Canada is selling its energy to America for far too little.

If Poilievre wins this election, I do not see it being the lovefest that some are making it out to be, but from what I have seen of Poilievre’s agenda, he does have Canada’s interests first, so I have to respect that.

And if I am being honest, I don’t want Canada or Greenland as part of the United States. Quite frankly, I don’t understand Trump’s fascination with both countries.

We have enough problems already, so we surely don’t need to bite off more.
