Congressional Dems ask Garland to investigate Ivanka Trump's husband
Former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, may be facing an investigation thanks to a letter from two top Democrats.
The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Jamie Raskin, and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden have sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland requesting a special counsel to investigate Kushner’s investment firm.
According to Raskin and Wyden, they have evidence that Kushner “acted as an unregistered foreign agent of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
“By his own admission, Mr. Kushner is actively advising former President Trump’s campaign while being paid at least $80 million by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other foreign governments since June 2021,” the Democrats wrote in the letter to Garland.
Raskin and Wyden went on to say that “there is also evidence that Mr. Kushner is secretly advising the Saudi government on U.S. foreign policy in a manner that undermines the official objectives of the U.S. government.”
The lawmakers did not stop there.
“While on the Saudi government’s payroll, Mr. Kushner is simultaneously serving as a political consultant to former President Trump and acting as a shadow diplomat and political advisor to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and other foreign principals,” the letter also noted.
“Despite being engaged in plainly political activities, Mr. Kushner has not made FARA disclosures to DOJ related to the millions of dollars he receives annually by entities owned and controlled by the governments of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar,” Raskin and Wyden continued.
For now, all anyone can do is wait to see how Attorney General Merrick Garland will respond.
If Garland does agree to appoint a special counsel, the road ahead could be very long for Kushner.
It's a struggle that's getting all too common for Donald Trump and his family.
Do you think Garland will appoint a special counsel to begin investigations into Kushner’s business dealings?
