The House Foreign Affairs Committee is set to hear from State Department officials this week about the suspension of Iran envoy Rob Malley.
Malley was suspended last month with many questions unanswered about the reasons behind the decision.

"I don't know what the problem is with his background checks and his security clearances, only what's been reported that classified documents have been mishandled," Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) told Washington Post Live earlier this month.
"Now, that could be something very small in nature, or it could be very — something very, very serious. And if I carry it to the most serious extreme, if he has leaked very sensitive or classified information to our foreign adversaries like Iran or Russia, that's a very serious act that would fall under treason," he added.
That the @StateDept is so reticent about the reason for @Rob_Malley’s dismissal insinuates an offense so egregious, it could warrant prosecution. @Kredo0 lists possible scenarios, but #Iranian-American dissidents know exactly why. https://t.co/dfF9vo7d9r

"Malley was the subject of an investigation into his alleged mishandling of classified information, a charge so serious that the probe was later handed off from the State Department office responsible for diplomatic security to the FBI," the Free Beacon reported.
"Washington’s national security rumor mill has been swirling ever since, though details about Malley’s alleged transgression remain unclear," it added.
Speculation has grown over the possibility that Malley may have shared classified materials with Iran or another nation.
Malley has been involved with numerous secret talks with Iranian leaders but the accusations of mishandling classified material have not included any formal charges.
Malley was previously fired in 2008 from the Obama campaign. At that time, he held talks with Hamas, an Iranian-supported terror group.
The hearing may become a massive situation that has so far stayed relatively quiet over the sensitive details involving Iran.
