Left-wing Groups Coming Hard at Biden Over Immigration Policies

Even before taking office, Joe Biden had made immigration a staple of his platform.

He and just about everyone in his administration have blamed the Trump administration for a broken immigration system, yet Biden's immigration numbers are now about 800 percent higher than they were under the Trump administration.

Now Biden has another problem… liberal organizations are not happy with him.

Failing Policies

One of the latest policies the Biden administration has introduced is a new app for asylum seekers to apply.

Biden was hoping to alleviate this continued surge at the border by allowing them to apply for asylum through the app and remain where they are while their case is processed.

It is eerily similar to Trump's Remain Mexico policy, and pro-migrant liberal groups are livid that it even has a scent of a Trump policy.

The plan is focusing on migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, offering 30,000 parole opportunities every month for migrants from those countries.

Conservatives have panned the new plan, claiming all it does is move migrants from the illegal column to the legal column while not actually doing anything to curb these ridiculous and overwhelming numbers we have seen over the last two years.

Mary Meg McCarthy, executive director of the National Immigrant Justice Center, is among those that are unhappy with the new policy.

She stated, "This administration continues on a dangerous path to replicate some of the worst aspects of the Trump administration's assaults on the right to asylum.

"After campaigning on human decency, President Biden now makes clear that such decency is not extended to Black, Brown, and Indigenous people in need of protection at our borders."

Jonathan Blazer, of the American Civil Liberties Union, was also less than impressed, calling the policy "hollow."

He stated, "His commitments to people seeking safety will ring utterly hollow if he moves forward in substituting one illegal anti-asylum Trump policy for another."

Guerline Jozef, co-founder and executive director of the Haitian Bridge Alliance, has also expressed concern.

Jozef stated, "We are extremely concerned the administration is returning to some of Trump's era practice of expelling asylum seekers to Mexico without the opportunity to seek protection and re-introducing an asylum transit ban.

"We are also extremely concerned that the new parole program will be inaccessible to the most vulnerable amongst us, particularly those en route to the U.S. border who will be ineligible for this program."

There was another handful of pro-migrant groups that had similar complaints, so this is going to be a big challenge for Biden moving forward.
