Comer says Biden family subpoenas imminent in Oversight Committee probe

The House Oversight Committee appears to be turning up the heat on its probe of Biden family business dealings, with chair James Comer (R-KY) suggesting over the weekend that new subpoenas could be flying in mere days, as Fox News reports.

Comer's remarks came during an appearance on Sunday Morning Futures with host Maria Bartiromo, and that is when he made mention of “two dozen” subpoenas awaiting issuance in the “very near future.”

Probe gains steam

As Just the News noted, Comer also discussed the panel's forthcoming moves with Lou Dobbs on the Friday installment of The Great America Show, stating that subpoenas for Biden family members could be expected “in a matter of days.”

Outlining the trajectory of the investigation to date, Comer mentioned subpoenas already issued by the committee for bank records belonging to first son Hunter Biden as well as President Joe Biden's brother, James Biden.

Those document requests yielded blockbuster information, including proof of a $200,000 personal check from James to Joe Biden, which was purported to have been a “loan repayment.”

Outlining for Dobbs what has been unearthed so far, Comer noted, “We've subpoenaed his bank records and we've gotten almost all the bank records in and during the process of giving us more.

“It's been a long process because, Lou, he has so many bank accounts; he would have one shell company with a dozen bank accounts,” Comer added.

Pointing to what could be a pivotal point in the investigation, Comer then said, “Because we got these bank accounts, then we're very close to bringing in the Bidens. I would say it's a matter of days before they get served.”

Obstruction alleged

During his discussion with Bartiromo, Comer also pointed to the panel's discovery of a $40,000 payment to Joe Biden from the bank account of his brother James and his wife, funds the Oversight chair characterized as “laundered China money.”

Joe Biden has repeatedly denied involvement in and knowledge of his son's business dealings, but, in Comer's estimation, the walls are finally closing in on the family due to the committee's dogged pursuit of the truth.

“This has been a painful process, Maria. We've been obstructed. We've been followed at every turn, not just by the Bidens' big money attorneys, but also by the federal government,” Comer said.

The congressman continued, “The IRS is obstructed. The DOJ is obstructed. The Treasury has obstructed. FBI has obstructed, and the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have pretty much been the Biden legal defense team,” but the lawmaker contends that it is now possible to “connect the dots” and demonstrate “money laundering” -- and a pattern of deliberate deception -- on the part of the Bidens.
