Comedian and Actor Dana Carvey's Son, Dex, Dead at 32

Dex Carvey, the son of comedian and actor Dana Carvey, died at the age of 32.

The Carvey family shared the news on social media, noting his death due to an accidental overdose on Wednesday.

"Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old," the statement read.

"Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things--music, art, film making, comedy--and pursued all of them passionately.

"It's not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee. Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever," it added.

"Dex Carvey was the oldest of Dana Carvey and Zwagerman's two children. They have another son, 30-year-old Thomas Carvey," CBS News reported.

"To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers," Dana Carvey and Zwagerman wrote.

Dana Carvey, who originally came to fame during his years on "Saturday Night Live," went on to star in several films starting in the 1990s, including the well-known "Wayne's World" movies based on the popular SNL skits.

Carvey would also star in films with Chris Farley, such as "Tommy Boy." Farley also tragically passed away at 33 due to a drug overdose.

The Carvey family now faces the loss of their own son whose life was cut short, leaving grief and heartache behind for all who knew Dex.
