Colorado Sec. of State Mistakenly Leaks Election System Passwords

In a shocking report out of Colorado, the Secretary of State’s office confirmed a leak.

Not just any leak, mind you, but the passwords for the state’s election system.

Even so, they are saying this is nothing to be concerned about and the leak is not considered a security breach.

Do you have to test under 75 to be considered for state election official? It seems that's what it seems like with all the unforced errors we are seeing in this election cycle.

The latest gaffe comes via Colorado’s Secretary of State, who accidentally leaked all the passwords for the election systems.

The passwords were on a spreadsheet that was accidentally posted on the Secretary of State’s website.

Secretary of State Jena Griswold, a Democrat, claimed this “does not pose an immediate security threat to Colorado’s elections.”

The leak was exposed after someone had contacted the Colorado Republican Party and explained how they had accessed the spreadsheet on multiple occasions.

The state GOP then sent out a mass email revealing the leak had taken place.

Dave Williams, chair of the Colorado GOP, stated, “We hear all the time in Colorado from Secretary Griswold and Governor (Jared) Polis that we represent the ‘Gold Standard’ for election integrity, a model for the nation.

“One can only hope that by the Secretary of State posting our most sensitive passwords online to the world dispels that myth.”

Griswold is now in damage control, telling a local news outlet, “This is not a security threat.

“There are two passwords to get into any voting component, along with physical access.

“We have layers of security, and out of just an abundance of caution, have staff in the field changing passwords, looking at access logs and looking at the entire situation and continuing our investigation.”

Again, with the spotlight being on our elections, how can something so idiotic happen?

Hopefully, the person who uploaded the sheets was terminated, as this level of incompetence cannot be accepted.
