REPORT: Michigan State Football Coach to be Fired

Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker has been suspended over an alleged sexual harassment incident.

The school announced the investigation on Sunday, with rumors already stating that Tucker is expected to be fired over the incident.

Co-defensive coordinator Harlon Barnett will be the Spartans' interim head coach. Former head coach Mark Dantonio will return to the team as an associate coach, reported CBS Sports.

Here We Go Again

So far, Tucker has been suspended without pay, but it would appear that Michigan state is in pure panic mode trying to do damage control over this.

Athletic Director Harlon Barnett announced the suspension on Sunday.

He stated, "Upon receiving the reports from the claimant regarding Mel Tucker, MSU's office of civil rights immediately commenced a review and subsequent investigation per university protocol, using an outside third party investigator.

"I was aware of the report in late December. The external investigator concluded their review and submitted their investigative report on July 25 with the recommendation for a formal hearing, which will occur the week of Oct. 5," reported the New York Post.

Of all people, Tucker is alleged to have masturbated over the phone while talking to sexual assault prevention advocate Brenda Tracy. Tucker has invited Tracey to speak to the team on several occasions on the subject of sexual assault, even giving her the title of honorary captain on one occasion.

Tucker previously served as the head coach of Colorado and was named HC after Mark Dantonio stepped away after the 2019 season.

Dantonio led the team to three Big 10 championships during his time as HC, so bringing him back to help the program during this mess is not a surprise.

Tucker was named Big 10 Coach of the Year in 2021. That season, the Spartans jumped out to an 8-0 start, but struggled over the last few games, finishing 10-2. But they did beat Pittsburgh in the Peach Bowl, finishing 11-2, for the first 11-win season since 2015.

Tucker was rewarded with a 10-year, $95 million contract extension.. and now he will be out of football if this investigation comes to the conclusion that most believe is imminent.
