Climate Protesters Arrested for Shutting Down Biden Campaign Headquarters

Youth climate activists were arrested Monday after obstructing the entrance to President Biden's campaign headquarters in Delaware, demanding his administration "end the era of fossil fuels."

According to the left-leaning climate organization Sunrise Movement, 21 of its members were detained, with approximately 80 others participating in the demonstration in Wilmington, Delaware, on Monday.

The activists cautioned that failure by Biden to take decisive action against climate change could result in millions of young voters abstaining from the November elections.

"Climate change is an imminent threat. Our communities are experiencing flooding, inhaling toxic air, and Black individuals like myself are perishing while the President continues to expand oil and gas production to unprecedented levels," stated Sunrise campaign director Kidus Girma.

"Then President Biden claims he's a climate president and seeks our support? That's unacceptable," he added.

Although Girma did not specify the actions Biden has taken to increase reliance on fossil fuels, the Sunrise Movement has consistently urged him to formally declare global warming a national emergency, a move resisted during his presidency.

Such a declaration would empower Biden to bypass Congress and enact various executive actions typically outside White House authority.

The Sunrise Movement broadly opposes all oil, gas, and coal development, advocating instead for a vigorous nationwide transition to renewable energy sources like wind and solar.

Fossil fuels remain the primary sources of domestic electricity and are vital to transportation and manufacturing sectors in America, according to federal data.

While Biden has refrained from declaring a climate emergency, he has consistently targeted the fossil fuel industry while promoting green energy.

The latest attack shows that even Biden's extreme climate agenda is not enough to make some activists happy, with protesters leading actions that are resulting in criminal actions in the effort to gain attention.
