Classified documents leaked showing Israel's attack plans

The Biden-Harris administration is facing serious scrutiny after the leak of classified documents revealing Israel's plan to attack Iran.

Fox News reports that the United States government is investigating the unauthorized release of documents.

The leak

Fox reports on the details of the leak.

Per the outlet:

The documents, which are marked top secret, were posted to the Telegram messaging app last week and first reported by CNN and Axios. The AP first reported Sunday about the U.S. investigation into the unauthorized release, citing three U.S. officials. The AP said a fourth U.S. official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, indicated that the documents appeared to be legitimate.

What the documents showed, according to the outlet, was how Israel was getting ready to launch an attack on Iran, after Iran's recent missile barrage on Israel.

Fox reports:

The documents, attributed to the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency, note that Israel was still moving military assets in place to conduct a military strike in response to Iran's blistering ballistic missile attack on Oct. 1. They were sharable within the "Five Eyes," which are the U.S., Great Britain, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

The leak, of course, means that Israel will likely have to change its game plan now, and one wonders whether that is the purpose of the leak. Time will tell.

Speaker Johnson weighs in

U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA), the speaker of the House of Representatives, recently weighed in on the situation. He did so during an appearance, over the weekend, on CNN.

The New York Post reports Johnson as, in part, saying:

The leak is very concerning. There’s some serious allegations being made there, an investigation underway, and I’ll get a briefing on that in a couple of hours. We’re following it closely.

Johnson went on to reveal that he has spoken to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin "Bibi" Netanyahu about the situation.

The House speaker said:

I talked to my friend Bibi, Prime Minister Netanyahu, yesterday to encourage him. I think that the United States needs to stand unequivocally by our ally there… we’re on a precipice… of a new era of security and freedom for Israel. And I think we’re very close.

The big question is whether this is possible with the Biden-Harris administration leading the way.
