Chilean Supreme Court Justice Suspended
It would appear that our Supreme Court is not the only court with members who are being criticized for alleged corruption.
Democrats have been after Justice Clarence Thomas from the moment he was nominated, but they have always fallen short in their efforts.
That was not the case in Chile for Supreme Court Justice Justice Ángela Vivanco.
Time to Go
Vivanco was recently suspended from the high court pending a permanent dismissal.
According to the report, she may not be the only person to lose her job in this scandal.
Supreme Court Justice Jean Pierre Matus has also been linked to the case.
According to the report, Vivanco has been linked to a massive corruption case involving money laundering, bribery, and tax evasion, which became known locally as the “audios case.”
Vivanco has been on the bench since 2018, appointed to the court by late President Sebastián Piñera.
Justice Sergio Muñoz is also now under investigation by the Ethics Committee.
The report went on to say that while they have all been accused, the case is very delicate and in order for one of them to fall, they are all going to have to fall, so this would appear to be an all-or-nothing case.
It just never ceases to amaze me that these jurors rise through the ranks while having their hands in every pot possible.
Vivanco, 61, was the youngest justice ever appointed when she was first named to the bench.
She has also served as the court’s spokesperson, but that role was pulled back several months ago when the allegations started to fly.
