Charges Dropped Against CPAC Chair Matt Schlapp

Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) chair Matt Schlapp just got some good news.

Schlapp’s life got flipped upside down when political activist Carlton Huffman accused Schlapp of groping him during a campaign event for then-Senate candidate Herschel Walker.

Huffman wanted to have the suit filed anonymously, which was shot down by the court. He was seeking a $9 million judgment against Schlapp.

Complaint Dropped

Needless to say, in today’s environment, allegations such as this are enough to end someone’s career, but as it turns out, Schlapp will no longer have to worry about that.

Huffman recently dropped the complaint, calling it all a big misunderstanding.

In a statement sent to Schlapp’s office, Huffman stated, “I am discontinuing all of my lawsuits. The claims made in my lawsuits were the result of a complete misunderstanding, and I regret that the lawsuit caused pain to the Schlapp family.

“The Schlapps have advised that the statements made about me were the result of a misunderstanding, which was regrettable.

“Neither the Schlapps nor the [American Conservative Union] paid me anything to dismiss my claims against them.”

Schlapp has been adamant from the outset that the charges made against him were false and he would defend himself against them.

Ironically, after Huffman’s initial suit was filed, allegations of assault were made against Huffman by two women.

In March 2023, two women aged 19 and 22 came forward saying that Huffman performed unwanted sexual acts on them.

The incident allegedly took place at Huffman’s home, with one of the women a new roommate of Huffman’s, according to the report.

According to filings, one of the women had claimed, “Carlton Huffman sexually assaulted me.

“He performed sexual acts on me digitally and orally without my consent.”

The woman also claimed that Huffman had a gun in the room and that, along with being intoxicated, made her hesitant to speak up.

Huffman denied the claim of unwanted advances, stating, “At no point did they tell me no.

“I was kissed. I was touched in sensitive areas. I did not force myself onto anybody.”
